Basketball moves fast. Two clocks run at once, the score changes every possession, and fouls decide who shoots free throws. The ScoreCastr basketball dashboard keeps all of it in one screen so one operator can keep up. This guide covers each card on the basketball Scoring tab, from the clocks to the bonus.
Set up the match
Create the match: pick Basketball, name both teams and set their four-character scorebug names. See Create your first match. If you choose Apex or Primetime, the setup page also asks for a Bonus rule (more on that below). Open the match with Control Dashboard, then stay on the Scoring tab.
A new match starts at Q1 with a 12:00 clock, a 24-second shot clock, the ball with the away team and 5 timeouts each.
Game clock and quarters
The SCORING CONTROLS card has the clocks and the period:
- QUARTER: Prev and Next step through Q1, Q2, HALF, Q3, Q4 and overtime. Changing the quarter doesn't touch the clock, so press Reset to load a fresh quarter. Set FINAL ends the game and stops both clocks.
- TIME: pick the quarter length first: Professional (12 min), College (20 min) or High School (8 min). Then Start and Stop, Reset, and +1 Min, +1 Sec, -1 Min, -1 Sec to match the gym clock. Hide Clock takes it off the scorebug. The clock stops by itself at 0:00.
Shot clock and possession
The SHOT CLOCK box has three icon buttons and four presets:
- The play button starts and stops the shot clock.
- The reset arrow sets it back to the selected preset and starts it running.
- The eye shows or hides it on the scorebug.
- 14s, 24s, 30s and 35s set the shot clock to that value and stop it. The one you pick stays highlighted and becomes what the reset arrow uses.
So a typical possession is: tap the preset when the ball changes hands, then press play when the clock should run. The shot clock doesn't stop at zero on its own.
POSSESSION shows who has the ball. Change switches it and the eye button hides the arrow. Possession never changes on its own when a team scores.
Score points
There are two ways to score.
The team cards. Under the clocks, each team has +1, +2, +3 and -1, with the points by quarter above them. These change the score only.
The SCORING card, if you want shooting stats too:
- Under Select Team, click the team that shot.
- Pick 3-PT, 2-PT or FT.
- Click ✓ MAKE or ✗ MISS.
A make adds the points and the shot to that team's field goal, three-point or free throw numbers. A miss counts the attempt. Back and Reset let you step out.
Timeouts
Each team card has Timeouts, Use Timeout and Add Timeout. Use Timeout takes one away and shows a TIMEOUT flag over that team on the scorebug. Add Timeout puts one back without a flag.
Fouls and the bonus
Team fouls live in the TEAM STATISTICS card (Starter plan): use the minus and plus on the Fouls row. ScoreCastr tracks team fouls only, not fouls per player.
Fouls don't reset by themselves at halftime or a new quarter. Clear both teams with Stream Deck code 2339, or take them down with the minus button.
On Apex and Primetime, the scorebug can show fouls and the bonus:
- In the SHORTCUTS card, SHOW TEAM FOULS puts each team's foul count under the bar.
- The Bonus rule dropdown next to it decides when a team shows BONUS, based on the other team's fouls:
| Bonus rule | What shows |
|---|---|
| 7 and 10 (bonus at 7, double bonus at 10) | BONUS at 7 fouls, DBL BONUS at 10 (the default) |
| 5, no double bonus | BONUS at 5 fouls |
| Off | No bonus tag |
The BONUS tag shows whenever the rule isn't Off, even with the foul counts hidden. Classic doesn't show fouls or the bonus.
Stats, subs and the Shortcuts card
The SHORTCUTS card has quick +1 buttons for REBOUNDS, STEALS and TURNOVERS, one per team. Under VISIBILITY, HIDE SPONSOR and HIDE TITLE turn the scorebug's sponsor spot and title bar off and on.
TEAM STATISTICS (Starter) covers Field Goals, FG%, 3-Pointers, 3PT%, Free Throws, FT%, Fouls, Rebounds, Assists, Steals, Blocks and Turnovers. The shooting rows fill in from the Scoring card and show AUTO. If you change them by hand they switch to MANUAL, with a button to go back to auto. The eye on any row shows that stat for both teams on the scorebug for a few seconds.
SUBSTITUTIONS (Starter) shows each team's Active (5) and Bench (10) by jersey number, from the team's saved roster. Pick one of each and click Swap Players.
Apex and Primetime extras
With Apex or Primetime (Starter plan), the Shortcuts card adds:
- AND ONE: plays an AND ONE flag for that team. It doesn't add the free throw; score that separately.
- TAKEOVERS: End of Quarter shows END OF 1ST, HALFTIME and so on across the bar, depending on the period. Show Winner shows the leading team as the winner (it's greyed out on a tie).
- SHOW TEAM FOULS and the Bonus rule, covered above.
On the Overlays tab, Halftime Stats also gets a Show Comparison Bars switch.
Graphics and Stream Deck
On Starter, basketball adds Away Starters, Home Starters (five players) and Halftime Stats to the usual title card, scoreboard and player graphics, under Overlays, then Customization.
Basketball codes run from 2300 to 2352. Codes need Listening Mode, which comes with the Starter plan.
| Code | Action |
|---|---|
| 2300 / 2301 | Away / Home 3PT Made |
| 2302 / 2303 | Away / Home 2PT Made |

| 2318 | Reset Shot Clock (and run it) |
