A template is the whole look of a match's graphics: the scorebug, scoreboards, lower thirds, lineups and the rest. ScoreCastr has three. You choose one per match, and you can change it whenever you like. This guide covers where to switch, what happens on a live match and how to set your colors.
The three templates
| Template | Look | Plan |
|---|---|---|
| Classic | The original ScoreCastr look | Every plan |
| Apex | Bold broadcast look in your team colors | Starter and up |
| Primetime | Network primetime bar with chevron team ends | Starter and up |
All three work for all twelve sports. The picker shows a preview of each template for your match's sport, so you can see the difference before you choose. Each template is its own design, so graphics can sit in different places on screen from one template to another.
Pick a template for a new match
When you create a match, the Graphics Template picker sits below the team setup. Click a template card; the chosen one shows a check. Then continue to Preview and Create Match. See Create your first match for the full walk-through.
Change the template on the dashboard
- Open the match's Control Dashboard.
- Open the Overlays tab, then the Customization sub-tab.
- Choose Graphics Template. It's the last item in the list on the left, or in the row of buttons at the top on a phone.
- Click the template you want.
If the match isn't live, the change saves straight away and your overlay switches.
Switching during a live match
If the match is live, ScoreCastr asks first: "Change the graphics template on a live match?" Your overlays switch the moment you confirm, and graphics may move to different spots on screen.
- Click Switch template to go ahead, or Cancel to keep the current one.
- Do it during a break, with the scorebug off air, so viewers don't see the change happen.
- If your OBS scene has anything placed around the graphics, like a camera crop or a logo, check it after the switch.
Set your Apex or Primetime colors
When a match uses Apex or Primetime, a Colors section appears under the template picker. One set of colors covers every Apex or Primetime graphic on the match.
| Color | What it changes |
|---|---|
| Away team color, Home team color | Each team's color across the graphics |
| Bar background | The main bar behind the scorebug |
| Title / strip background | Title strips and secondary bars |
| Pill background, Pill text, Pill label | The small boxes for the clock, period and stats |
| Accent | Highlights and markers |
| Text | The main text color |
Each one has a color wheel and a hex box. Changes save on their own a moment after you stop adjusting, and show on the overlay. Click Reset to Apex defaults (or Primetime) to start over.
A few things are fixed on purpose:
- Card, penalty and other warning colors don't change, so a red card always looks like a red card.
- Text on a team color stays readable automatically. If you pick a light team color, the text on it turns dark.
- Your colors carry over if you switch between Apex and Primetime.
- Swimming has no team color fields, because a meet can have many teams. Set the other colors as normal.
If the template is locked
On the Free plan, Apex and Primetime show a dimmed preview with an Upgrade label. Clicking one explains that the template comes with the Starter plan and offers View plans.
If your plan changes back to Free later, your matches show Classic, but your template choice is kept. Upgrade again and they go back to Apex or Primetime with your colors.
