Set up a Stream Deck

Turn on Listening Mode, import a ready-made profile for your sport, and run the score and graphics from physical buttons.

Every control on the ScoreCastr dashboard has a 4-digit code. When Listening Mode is on, typing a code fires that action: 2113 adds a home goal in soccer, 1001 shows or hides the scorebug. A Stream Deck button types the code for you, so one press scores a goal or puts a graphic on air. This guide covers turning it on, importing a profile and building your own buttons.

Short versionOn the dashboard, click the ear icon in the Overlay Visibility panel to turn on Listening Mode. Download the Stream Deck profile for your sport and model, double-click it, and click Install. Keep the dashboard window in front while you press buttons.

What you need

  • A ScoreCastr Starter plan or higher. Listening Mode lives in the Overlay Visibility panel, which comes with Starter.
  • The free Stream Deck app from Elgato, version 7 or newer for the ready-made profiles.
  • A Stream Deck. Ready-made profiles cover the MK.2 / Standard (15 keys) and the XL (32 keys). A Mini, Plus or Pedal works too, with buttons you set up yourself.
  • An open match on the Control Dashboard.

Turn on Listening Mode

  1. Open the match's Control Dashboard.
  2. In the sidebar, find the Overlay Visibility panel.
  3. Click the ear icon in its top corner (its tooltip says "Toggle keyboard shortcut listener"). It turns red when Listening Mode is on.

While it's on, a small badge on the ear icon shows the digits as they come in. Click the ear again to turn it off.

Listening Mode belongs to that one browser tab. If you reload the dashboard or open it in a new tab, turn it on again. Glance at the ear icon before you start pressing buttons.

Watch outWith Listening Mode on, any digits you type fire codes, even in a text box like a player number. Turn it off before you type numbers into the dashboard, then turn it back on.

How the codes work

Codes are grouped by number, so you can tell what a code does at a glance:

Codes What they control
1001 to 1099 Show and hide graphics
2001 to 2099 Points and serve for tennis and pickleball
2100s Soccer
2200s Football
2300s Basketball
2400s Baseball and softball
2500s Volleyball
2600s MMA
2700s Ice hockey
2800s Field hockey

To see every code for your match, click the keyboard icon next to the ear ("View keyboard shortcuts"). A code fires on its fourth digit. The digits need to arrive within a second of each other, which a Stream Deck button always manages.

Graphics codes (1001 to 1099) work from any dashboard tab. Scoring codes only work while the Scoring tab is open, so stay on Scoring during the game.

Download a profile

Ready-made profiles have every button labeled with its action and set up to type its code. There are two files for each set, one per model:

Profile Stream Deck MK.2 (15 keys) Stream Deck XL (32 keys)
Graphics (show and hide) overlays-mk2 overlays-xl
Tennis and pickleball scoring universal-mk2 universal-xl
Soccer soccer-mk2 soccer-xl
Football football-mk2 football-xl
Basketball basketball-mk2 basketball-xl
Baseball and softball baseball-mk2 baseball-xl
Volleyball volleyball-mk2 volleyball-xl
MMA mma-mk2 mma-xl
Ice hockey ice-hockey-mk2 ice-hockey-xl
Field hockey field-hockey-mk2 field-hockey-xl

Tennis, pickleball and swimming don't have ready-made profiles yet. Build those buttons yourself (see below).

Import it into the Stream Deck app

  1. Double-click the downloaded .streamDeckProfile file. Don't unzip it.
  2. The Stream Deck app opens and asks to install the profile. Click Install (older versions say Import).
  3. Pick the new profile from the profile list at the top of the Stream Deck app.

Buttons are color coded: red for the away team, green for home, blue for graphics and orange for actions like the clock and possession. Sport profiles have two pages, with page buttons in the bottom-right corner.

If you imported an older version of a profile, delete it in the Stream Deck app before installing the new one, so old pages don't linger.

Build your own buttons

Use this for codes that aren't on a profile, for tennis, pickleball and swimming, or for a Mini, Plus or Pedal.

  1. In the Stream Deck app, drag the Text action (under System) onto an empty key.
  2. Type the 4-digit code into its text box. You don't need to send Enter; the code fires on the fourth digit.
  3. Give the key a short title, like "HOME +1".

You can mix codes on one page, for example your sport's scoring codes next to a few graphics codes.

A numeric keypad or an X-Keys pad works the same way: anything that types digits can fire codes. On X-Keys, create a macro in MacroWorks that sends the four digits.

Fix common problems

A button does nothing. Listening Mode is off, or the dashboard isn't the window in front. The Stream Deck types into whichever window has focus, so if OBS or another app is in front, the digits go there. Click an empty spot on the dashboard, check the ear icon is red, and press again.

Digits show up in a text box. A field on the dashboard had focus. Click an empty spot on the page first.

The profile won't install. Check you downloaded the right model (mk2 for 15 keys, xl for 32 keys) and that the Stream Deck app is version 7 or newer.

The ear icon is greyed out. The Overlay Visibility panel comes with the Starter plan. Upgrade, or use the dashboard's on-screen buttons.

Checklist

  • Starter plan or higher
  • Stream Deck app version 7 or newer
  • Profile for your sport and model installed
  • Listening Mode on (ear icon red) in the tab you're using
  • Dashboard window in front, nothing typed into a text box
  • A test press works before the game
