Add a scrolling ticker

Run one scrolling message along the top or bottom of your stream: other scores, sponsor thanks, a schedule. Set its speed and style, and save the style for next time.

A ticker is the line of text that crawls across the bottom of the screen. Crews use it for scores from other games, sponsor thank-yous, the next fixture or a reminder to subscribe. ScoreCastr has one ticker per match, on every sport. This guide covers the message, the look and how it sits next to your other graphics.

Short versionType your message under Overlays, then Customization, then Scrolling Ticker. Pick top or bottom and a speed, then click Show Scrolling Ticker in the Overlay Visibility panel. It needs the Starter plan.

Write the message

  1. Open the match's Control Dashboard, then Overlays, then Customization.
  2. Choose Scrolling Ticker.
  3. Type in Ticker Message. It holds up to 500 characters, and the count shows under the box.

The message repeats end to end with a separator between each copy. An empty message never shows, even if the ticker is switched on. Changes save on their own a moment after you stop typing, and an on-air ticker updates with them.

Position, direction and speed

  • Position: Bottom or Top.
  • Direction: Right to Left (the usual) or Left to Right.
  • Speed: Very Slow, Slow, Normal, Fast or Very Fast.
  • Position Offset: moves the ticker in from the edge, up to 240 px.

Keep it at Normal or slower if viewers need to read names and scores.

Style the ticker

The settings under the position controls change the look:

Setting What it does
Text Color, Background Color, Accent Color Colors (Classic only, see below). The accent is a thin line along the ticker's inner edge, and its switch turns it off
Background Opacity How see-through the band is
Separator The mark between repeats, up to 8 characters
Text casing As entered, UPPERCASE or lowercase
Text effect None, Drop shadow or Outline
Font weight Regular to Black
Text Size, Letter Spacing Text size from 16 to 72, and the space between letters
Ticker Height, Horizontal Padding, Vertical Padding, Separator Spacing The band's size and the space around the text
Edge fades, Fade Width Softens the text as it enters and leaves

Save a style

The Saved ticker styles box at the top keeps your look for other matches. Styles save to your account, not to the match.

  1. Set the ticker the way you like it.
  2. Type a name, like "Network headline", and click Save current style.
  3. On another match, pick it from Choose a saved style.

Applying a style never changes the message or the channel. Rename and Delete manage saved styles.

Put it on air

Click Show Scrolling Ticker in the Overlay Visibility panel and click it again to hide it. See Show and hide graphics.

From a Stream Deck or numpad, code 1021 shows and hides the ticker. It works with Listening Mode on, though the Keyboard Shortcuts window doesn't list it. See Set up a Stream Deck.

Channel Assignment at the top of the tab sends it to Channel 1, Channel 2 or Both Channels. See Use two output channels.

On Apex and Primetime

  • Label: a Label box (up to 16 characters, like SCORES) and a Show Label switch appear under the message. The label sits in a fixed block at the start of the ticker while the text crawls past it. Classic has no label.
  • Colors: the three color pickers are replaced by a note. The ticker takes the match's template colors from Graphics Template, then Colors. See Switch templates.
  • Style settings still apply, measured against the template's own design. Settings you never change keep the template's look. Vertical Padding isn't used.
  • The preview box in the tab shows the Classic ticker. Check the real look in Live Preview. See Pop out the live preview.

The ticker and your scorebug

On Apex and Primetime, graphics move to make room for the ticker when both are on the same channel:

  • Bottom ticker: on Apex, the football, basketball, volleyball and MMA scorebugs lift above it. On Primetime, every scorebug and the starters lineups stay clear of it.
  • Top ticker: on Apex, the soccer, ice hockey, field hockey, baseball, softball, tennis and pickleball scorebugs drop below it. Primetime does the same for scorebugs at the top.
  • Primetime watermark: a logo in a corner on the ticker's edge moves in to stay clear of it.

On Classic, nothing moves. If the ticker covers your scorebug, switch Position or use Position Offset, and check the result in Live Preview.

Fix common problems

The ticker is on but nothing shows. The message is empty. Type something in Ticker Message.

The ticker looks different from the preview box. On Apex and Primetime, the preview box shows Classic. Use Live Preview.

The ticker shows in the wrong browser source. Check its Channel Assignment.
