Same team twice in the list

If a team shows up twice when you set up a match, or a player list shows last season's roster, you have two saved teams with the same name. Delete the one you don't use.

You open a new match, click Select from My Teams and see the same school listed twice. Or a Player Bio list shows players who graduated last year. Nothing is broken: your account has two saved teams with the same name. This guide shows how to find the duplicate and remove it.

Short versionTwo saved teams share a name. Open My Teams, filter by the sport, open each copy to see which roster is current, and delete the old one with the trash button.

Why it happens

Duplicates usually come from creating a team again instead of editing the old one, for example at the start of a new season, or two people on the same account each adding the school.

The Select from My Teams list shows team names only, so two teams with the same name look identical there.

Why the wrong roster shows

When you create a match, the team you pick fills the match, roster included. But the player lists in the graphics work differently. Select Player from Roster in Player Bio, Player Stats and Lower Third looks the team up by the match's team name, and uses the first saved team it finds with that name. The baseball and football player lists work the same way.

With two teams of the same name, that can be the old one. The lookup doesn't check the sport either, so a soccer team and a basketball team with the same name can mix up too. A name that contains another team's name, like "Central" and "Central Catholic", can also match the wrong team.

Saving a roster has a similar effect: ScoreCastr copies it into every existing match that uses that team name.

Find the duplicate

  1. Click your username, then My Teams.
  2. Click the sport's filter button, for example Basketball, to shorten the list. Then check All too, for same-name teams in other sports.
  3. In the Team Management table, look for two rows with the same Team Name. The logo, Scorebug Name, Mascot and Colors columns often show which is newer.
  4. Click each name to open the team page and check the Team Roster tab. Keep the one with the current players.

Delete the extra team

  1. Back on My Teams, click the trash button on the row you don't want.
  2. Confirm "Are you sure you want to delete this team?".

Deleting can't be undone, so check the roster first. Matches you already created keep their team name, colors and logo. Reload the match's dashboard and the player lists now come from the team you kept.

Watch outA school that plays several sports needs one saved team per sport, and those often share a name. Before the game, open Away Player Bio and check the list shows this sport's players. If it shows another sport's roster, type the player details by hand for that match.

Keep it from coming back

  • At the start of a season, edit the existing team and update its roster instead of adding a new one. See Import a roster.
  • If several people share the account, agree on who adds teams.
  • Before creating a team, filter My Teams by its sport to check it isn't already there.

Checklist

  • Team list filtered by sport and checked under All
  • Each copy's roster checked before deleting
  • Old copy deleted with the trash button
  • Player lists in the match show the right players
  • Next season: edit the team, don't add a new one
