Show and hide graphics, and go to break

The Overlay Visibility panel puts every graphic one click away. Show the title card before the game, go to break at halftime, and line the buttons up in the order you use them.

A broadcast is more than a scorebug. Before the game you show a title card, at halftime a scoreboard, during play a lower third for the player of the moment. On ScoreCastr each of these is a button in one panel on the dashboard, and the change reaches your overlay a moment after you click.

Short versionIn the dashboard's sidebar, the Overlay Visibility panel has a Show button for every graphic. Click it to put the graphic on air and click Hide to take it off. Go to Break swaps the scorebug for the scoreboard. The panel needs the Starter plan.

Find the panel

  1. Open the match's Control Dashboard.
  2. Look in the sidebar on the right (below the main controls on a phone), under Back to Match List.
  3. The Overlay Visibility panel lists a button for each graphic your sport has.

Each button says what it will do: Show Score Bug when the scorebug is off, Hide Score Bug when it's on. Buttons for graphics that are on air are filled in.

Show and hide a graphic

Click a graphic's button to show it, and click it again to hide it. Several graphics can be on at once. The scorebug starts on, and everything else starts off.

The graphics you'll see depend on the sport:

Graphic Sports
Score Bug, Title Card, Scoreboard, Keys to the Match Every sport
Away Lower Third, Home Lower Third Team sports and MMA (Lower Third 1 and Lower Third 2 in the other sports)
Watermark, Scrolling Ticker, Talent, Talent Bar Every sport
Away Player Bio, Home Player Bio, Away Player Stats, Home Player Stats Team sports
Away Starters, Home Starters Football, basketball, volleyball, ice hockey, field hockey, baseball, softball
Away Defense, Home Defense Football, baseball, softball
Halftime Stats Team sports (Game Stats in baseball and softball)

Each button starts with Show or Hide, for example Show Title Card.

Swimming renames some of them: the scorebug is Event Bug, the scoreboard Lane Results and keys to the match Team Standings, and it adds Lane Names.

What each graphic shows is set under Overlays, then Customization. Fill it in before you put it on air.

TipCheck what's on air with the **Preview** card under **Overlays**, then **Live Preview**. **Pop Out** keeps it in a small window beside the dashboard. See [Pop out the live preview](/guides/live-preview).

Go to break

The big button at the top of the panel handles breaks:

  • Go to Break hides the scorebug and shows the scoreboard in one click.
  • While the scoreboard is showing, the button reads In Break. Click it to bring the scorebug back and hide the scoreboard.

Use it at halftime, between periods, during a timeout or for the final. The scoreboard shows the score, period and teams full screen.

Swimming has no Go to Break button, because it has no scorebug to swap.

Put the buttons in your order

Drag a button by the handle on its left to move it. Put the graphics you use most at the top, like the scorebug, scoreboard and lower thirds. The order is saved with the match, so it's the same on every device you open it on.

To go back to the original order, click the Reset to default order button (the circular arrow) at the top of the panel.

Keyboard shortcuts

The two other icons at the top of the panel are for shortcuts:

  • The keyboard icon ("View keyboard shortcuts") opens Keyboard Shortcuts: every 4-digit code for showing graphics and scoring, by sport.
  • The ear icon turns Listening Mode on and off. While it's on, typing a code fires it. Codes 1001 to 1021 show and hide graphics; 1001 is the scorebug.

A numpad or Stream Deck can type the codes for you. See Set up a Stream Deck.

On the Free plan

Free includes the scorebug, which is on from the start. The Overlay Visibility panel comes with the Starter plan: on Free it shows as a dimmed preview with Upgrade Now, and Go to Break and the shortcuts aren't available. See Plans explained.

Fix common problems

A graphic shows but is empty or has old text. Fill in its section under Overlays, then Customization.

The graphic doesn't appear in OBS. Check the graphic's Channel Assignment in its Customization section. If it's set to Channel 2, it shows on the Channel 2 browser source only. See Add your overlay to OBS.

"Overlay update failed". The change didn't save. Check the status dot at the top of the dashboard and click the button again.
