Most swim meet problems come down to a few habits of the Scoring tab: lane changes wait for Update, places come from the times, and the pool's settings drive the numbers on screen. This guide lists the problems operators run into and the fix for each.
Lanes and the lane board
My lane changes aren't on the broadcast. Lane edits wait until you click Update Start List or Update Lane Results. Look for Not on air yet under the buttons. The Lane Board Shows switch waits too, so switching to Results changes nothing on air until you click Update.
The event name or heat changed on air right away. That's expected. The event number, name, heat, round and event type save as soon as you change them. Only the lanes wait. The exception is a heat loaded from a meet program: then everything waits for Update Start List.
My unsent changes disappeared. Unsent lane changes survive switching tabs on the dashboard, but not a page reload. Next Heat (Clear Lanes) and Discard also drop them. Send changes with Update before you reload.
A swimmer is missing from the board. Lanes with no swimmer name are left off. Fill in the name and click Update.
Next Heat cleared the lanes on air. Without a meet program, Next Heat (Clear Lanes) puts the next heat on air at once with empty lanes and the start list. Fill in the new lanes and click Update Start List.
Times and places
A lane has a time but no place. Auto place only reads times like 52.48, 52 or 1:52.48, with up to two decimal places. A time like 24.381 or a typo gets no place. Lanes marked DQ, NS or SCR never get a place.
The places changed after I typed them. With AUTO PLACE FROM TIMES: ON, the places follow the times. Typing a place yourself turns auto place off. Click the button to switch it back on.
Two swimmers have the same place. Equal times share a place (1, 2, 2, 4). To break a tie, type the places yourself.
The results are in lane order. Results Order is set to By lane. Change it to By place under Overlays, then Customization, then Lane Results.
Lane numbers and pool settings
The lane numbers on the graphics don't match the pool. Set Lane Numbers under Customization, then Lane Results. Choose the range that starts at 0 for pools numbered from lane 0.
The board has the wrong number of lanes. Change Lanes in the same panel. Lowering it removes the higher lanes and anything typed in them.
Teams and standings
A team's name, logo or color is wrong. Meet teams are set when the meet is created, and the dashboard has no place to change them afterwards. Teams added during a meet program import start without a logo. If it matters for the broadcast, create the meet again with the right details. See Create a swim meet.
Team Standings is empty or shows no points. Points aren't worked out from the results. Type them under Customization, then Team Standings, then show Team Standings from Overlay Visibility.
Team Standings shows fewer teams than the meet has. Teams Shown is set to the top 6 teams to start. Choose All teams to show every team.
Graphics and colors
There's no Go to Break button. That's by design: swimming has no scorebug to swap. Show Lane Results or Team Standings from Overlay Visibility instead.
My Classic colors don't show. On an Apex or Primetime meet, one set of colors covers every graphic. Change it under Customization, then Graphics Template. Team colors always come from the meet teams.
The winner lower third has the wrong swimmer. Click Use on the right lane first. Without a pick, the lower third uses the swimmer in first place. Showing it replaces whatever was in Lower Third 1.
Lane names don't line up, or Show Lane Names is greyed out. See Draw lane names in the pool.
Meet program imports
"This is a PDF heat sheet." Export the meet from your meet software instead of printing the heat sheet.
Events marked "not seeded" or "diving, skipped". Unseeded events had no heats when you exported; re-import after seeding. Diving events aren't part of a swimming meet in ScoreCastr.
Next Heat reads "End of session". Next Heat stays inside one session. Pick the next session in the Session picker on the Meet Program card, then load its first heat.
More import problems are covered in Import a meet program.
Saving and connection
"Not saved" or "Update failed". The change didn't reach the overlay. Check the status dot at the top of the dashboard and try again. See The status dot.
Two people are editing the meet. Each save goes on top of the latest data, but two people changing the lanes at the same moment can overwrite each other. Have one person run the Scoring tab.
I can't change times after End Match. End Match locks the meet's results. Showing and hiding graphics still works. See End a match.
