End a match and show the final

Show FINAL on the scorebug, put the final scoreboard on screen, then end the match so the score is locked and nobody changes it by accident.

When the final whistle goes, two things need to happen: viewers see the final score, and the match is closed off so nobody changes it by accident. In ScoreCastr these are separate steps. You show FINAL while the stream is still on air, then end the match once you're done with it.

Short versionClick Set FINAL on the Scoring tab so the scorebug reads FINAL, and show the scoreboard for the final. When you're finished, open Game Actions and click End Match. The score is locked and the match moves to Completed.

Show FINAL on the scorebug

Most sports have a Set FINAL button next to the period or round on the Scoring tab:

  • Football, basketball, volleyball, ice hockey, baseball, softball and MMA: Set FINAL.
  • Field hockey: Set FNL.
  • Soccer: choose Full Time in Select Period:. This also ends the match (see below).

Once it's on, the button reads FINAL and the scorebug shows FINAL instead of the period. Click it again to turn it off if you set it too early. In many sports the scoring and stat buttons lock while FINAL is on.

Tennis and pickleball have no FINAL button: when the last point of the match is won, the dashboard shows (Match Complete) next to the sport's name. You still use End Match afterward. See Tennis scoring and Pickleball scoring.

Show the final scoreboard

With the Starter plan, put the full-screen scoreboard up for the final:

  1. In the Overlay Visibility panel, click Go to Break. The scorebug goes off and the scoreboard comes on.
  2. Leave it up while you sign off.

You can also show other graphics, like Halftime Stats for the game's numbers. See Show and hide graphics.

End the match

When the stream is over:

  1. Open the Game Actions tab.
  2. Under Match Actions, click End Match.
  3. Read the message ("Are you sure you want to end this match?") and click End Match to confirm, or Cancel.

You go back to your match list, where the match now shows Completed with the result.

What End Match does

  • Sets FINAL. In football, basketball, volleyball, ice hockey, field hockey, baseball and softball, End Match also sets FINAL and stops the clocks, so the overlay shows the final even if you forgot to.
  • Locks the score. Scoring changes are refused after End Match. If you try one, you'll see "This match was completed with End Match and can no longer be edited."
  • Moves it to Completed. The match shows under Completed Matches on your list.

You can still show and hide graphics on an ended match, so you can clear the screen after the game.

Ending a match doesn't free its spot in your plan's active match limit straight away: a match counts for 24 hours after you create it. To make room sooner, delete a match you no longer need. See Run several matches at once.

Watch outEnd Match can't be undone. Only end the match when the game is over and the score is right.

Soccer's Full Time

In soccer, choosing Full Time in Select Period: ends the match, just like End Match. The score locks, so check it before you choose Full Time.

Start an ended match over

There's no way to reopen an ended match with its score. Reset Match on the Game Actions tab starts it over: the match is live again, but every score, period and stat goes back to zero. See Reset or delete a match.

Fix common problems

"Match has ended" or "Change not saved" when I press a button. The match was ended, with End Match or soccer's Full Time, and scoring changes are locked. If the game isn't really over, Reset Match starts it over from zero.

The scorebug still shows the last period. Turn on FINAL with Set FINAL. In MMA, End Match doesn't set FINAL for you.

I hit my plan's match limit. Delete matches you no longer need, or wait for older ones to pass their 24 hours. See Run several matches at once.
