Swimming graphics and colors

A swim meet has its own graphics: the event bug, the lane board for start lists and results, team standings, lane names and a winner lower third. Here's what each shows and where to set it up.

Swimming doesn't have a scorebug with two teams and a score. In its place, ScoreCastr gives a meet its own set of graphics, built from what you enter on the Scoring tab. This guide covers what each one shows, where its settings live and how to put it on air.

Short versionThe Event Bug shows the event in the water on every plan. With Starter, Overlays, then Customization, has panels for the Event Bug, Title Card, Lane Results, Lane Names and Team Standings, and the Overlay Visibility panel shows each one.

The swimming graphics

Swimming reuses the standard outputs under its own names. The Overlay Visibility button for each reads Show plus the name, for example Show Lane Results.

Graphic What it shows Code
Event Bug The event number, event name and heat 1001
Lane Results The lane board: the start list or the results 1002
Title Card The meet's opening graphic 1003
Lower Third 1 The winner lower third from the Scoring tab 1004
Team Standings Meet points by team 1006
Lane Names Names drawn in their lanes on the start camera 1011

Lower Third 2, Watermark, Scrolling Ticker, Talent and Talent Bar work the same as in other sports. Swimming has no Go to Break button, no player bios and no lineups.

The codes work with Listening Mode and a Stream Deck. See Set up a Stream Deck.

Event Bug

The Event Bug is on air from the start, on every plan. It shows the event number, the event name and the heat, all from the Scoring tab, plus the meet logo from the Title Card.

In Customization, then Event Bug:

  • Top Line and Bottom Line: extra lines, set at first to the meet name and the session.
  • Show Heat: "Heat 1 of 2", "Heat 1", or Hide.

Title Card

Customization, then Title Card, holds the Meet Logo, Title, Subtitle, Session, Date and Time, Venue, City and State. They start with what you entered when you created the meet. Show it before the first event.

Lane Results

The lane board shows whatever Lane Board Shows is set to on the Scoring tab, after you click Update:

  • Start List: lanes in order with swimmers, teams and seed times.
  • Results: places and times, the winner highlighted, and DQ, NS and SCR lanes at the bottom.

Relays show the relay name with its swimmers. A tab above the board reads like "Heat 2 of 4 · Results".

Customization, then Lane Results, has:

  • Lanes (6, 8 or 10), Lane Numbers (starting at 1 or 0) and Results Order (By place or By lane).
  • Meet Record (optional), Pool Record (optional) and Note (optional), shown along the bottom of the board. The note is handy for a DQ reason.
Watch outLowering **Lanes** removes the lanes above the new count, with anything typed in them.

Team Standings

Points aren't worked out from the results. You type them. In Customization, then Team Standings:

  • Title: "Team Standings" to start.
  • Through: a line like "After Event 12".
  • Status: Unofficial, Official or Hide.
  • Teams Shown: Top 4, Top 6 (the default), Top 8, Top 10 or All teams.
  • Team Points: a box for each meet team.

The graphic ranks teams by points. Equal points share a rank, teams with no points go last, and the leader is highlighted. Update the points and the Through line after each scored event.

Lane Names and the winner lower third

  • Lane Names has its own setup panel and its own guide: Draw lane names in the pool.
  • The winner lower third is shown from the Winner Lower Third card on the Scoring tab. It fills Lower Third 1 with the swimmer's name, team logo and a line like "1st · Girls 50 Free · 24.38". See Run a swim meet from the Scoring tab.

How the panels save

The swimming panels save each box when you click out of it or press Enter, and dropdowns save when you pick. Every panel has Channel Assignment (Channel 1, Channel 2 or Both Channels), so you can send the lane board and standings to a full-screen scene. See Add your overlay to OBS.

Colors, templates and plans

  • Classic: each swimming panel has its own Color Customization panel, with labels that say what each color paints, like Event number, Lane rows or Winner and records.
  • Apex and Primetime: one set of colors covers every graphic. Change it under Customization, then Graphics Template. The Classic pickers don't apply.
  • Team colors always come from each meet team, set when you created the meet. Swimming has no away or home color.

The templates place the event bug differently: Apex puts it along the bottom, centered, and Primetime in the top-left corner. To change templates, see Switch templates.

The Event Bug is on every plan, including Free. Customization and the Overlay Visibility panel, which set up and show every other graphic, need the Starter plan. Apex and Primetime need a paid plan. See Plans explained.
