Run a baseball game pitch by pitch

Ball, strike, foul, out. The baseball dashboard keeps the count, the outs, the runners and the line score, and flips the inning on the third out.

Baseball is scored one pitch at a time, and the scorebug has to keep up. The ScoreCastr baseball dashboard does the baseball math, so ball four walks the batter and the third out flips the half-inning. This guide covers every control and the graphics that go with it.

Short versionUse +Ball, +Strike, Foul Ball and +Out for every pitch, tap the bases to place runners, and use Single, Double, Triple and Home Run in the Shortcuts card to move runners and score runs. The inning changes by itself on the third out.

Create a baseball match

Pick Baseball on the Select Sport screen and set up both teams as usual (see Create your first match). A baseball match is nine innings. Open it from your match list with Control Dashboard, and you land on the Scoring tab, headed BASEBALL MATCH CONTROLS.

The count and outs

The SCORING CONTROLS card holds the inning and the count.

  • +Ball: adds a ball. Ball four walks the batter: the batter goes to first, runners who are forced move up, and a run scores if the bases were loaded.
  • +Strike: adds a strike. Strike three is a strikeout and an out.
  • Foul Ball: a strike until there are two strikes, then nothing changes.
  • +Out: adds an out and starts a new batter at 0-0. The third out ends the half-inning: the count, outs and bases clear and the inning moves on.
  • -Ball, -Strike and -Out fix a mistake. They change the count only.

Every +Ball, +Strike and Foul Ball also counts as a pitch for the pitcher on the mound. See Baseball and softball pitcher stats.

The inning

The INNING box shows the inning number with TOP and BOT buttons. The - and + buttons go back or forward one half-inning, and the count, outs and bases clear when you move. You rarely need them, because the third out moves the inning for you.

Set FINAL marks the game as over and the scorebug shows FINAL. Click it again to undo.

Runners and runs

Under BASE RUNNERS, tap a base on the small diamond, or use Runner on 1st, Runner on 2nd and Runner on 3rd. Each one switches that runner on or off.

Below the diamond, each team has its runs with + and - buttons. Runs are the score, so these change the scorebug straight away.

Hits and the home run takeover

The SHORTCUTS card does the common plays in one click:

Button What happens
Single Batter to first, runners move up one base, the runner on third scores
Double Batter to second, runners on second and third score, a runner on first goes to third
Triple Every runner scores, batter to third
Home Run Everyone on base and the batter score, and the HOME RUN takeover plays on the scorebug

Each one adds a hit for the batting team. Below them are Reset Count, Clear Bases and Out.

TipA hit doesn't reset the count. Press Reset Count before the next batter steps in.

The 10 batter-result buttons

The BATTING card comes with the Starter plan. It has a box for the away batter and one for the home batter, and the team at the plate is highlighted.

Pick the batter from Select Batter (it appears when the team is saved in My Teams with a roster) or type into Batter Name. Then record the at-bat with one of ten buttons: K, 1B, 2B, 3B, HR, ER (reached on error), SAC, FC, GRND and FLY. The batter's line shows underneath, like "Batting Stats: 2-4", with the inning of each at-bat. Undo Last Stat takes back the last one.

Show Away Batter Stats and Show Home Batter Stats put the batter's day on a bar under the scorebug.

Watch outThe batter-result buttons only write the batter's line. They don't move runners or add outs. 1B, 2B, 3B and HR also add a team hit, and HR adds a run, so if you also press Single or Home Run in the Shortcuts card, the hit (or run) counts twice. For each play, use one or the other for the hit, and fix runners and outs with the other controls.

The other Starter cards: TEAM STATS (R, H and E, with Errors buttons) and PITCHING (see pitcher stats).

Extra innings and the final

There's no inning limit. If the game is tied after nine, keep scoring: the third out of the ninth moves to the tenth. The line score adds a column for each extra inning, and on Apex and Primetime the scorebug shows FINAL/10 (or whichever inning it ended in) once you press Set FINAL.

RESET CONTROLS at the bottom has Reset All Stats (asks you to confirm), Reset Inning (back to the top of the first) and Reset Count & Outs.

Graphics for baseball

On the Overlays tab, under Customization (Starter), baseball has the usual graphics plus Away Starters, Home Starters (the batting order), Away Defense, Home Defense (see Defense on the diamond) and Game Stats. The Scoreboard shows runs, hits and errors; on Apex and Primetime it shows the full line score by inning.

Apex and Primetime extras

When the match uses Apex or Primetime, the Shortcuts card gets more sections:

  • STRIKEOUT, DOUBLE PLAY and PITCHING CHANGE: each has one button in the fielding team's color that plays that flag over the fielding team. The flag doesn't change the count, outs or stats.
  • VISIBILITY: SHOW LINE SCORE drops the inning-by-inning line score under the scorebug. It's off until you turn it on.

The Home Run takeover reads GRAND SLAM! when the bases were loaded, and the batting order marks the batter at the plate with AT BAT.

Stream Deck codes

Baseball uses the 2400 codes. A few to start with:

Code Action
2400 / 2402 Ball +1 / Strike +1
2407 Foul Ball
2404 Out +1
2406 Reset Count
2421 to 2424 Runner on 1st, 2nd, 3rd, clear all bases
2425 / 2427 Away run +1 / Home run +1
2437 to 2447 Away batter results K to fly out, then undo
2448 to 2458 Home batter results, then undo
2459 Toggle Final

1009 and 1010 show and hide the away and home pitcher bars. Single, Double, Triple and Home Run from the Shortcuts card have no codes, so the HOME RUN takeover is a dashboard click. The ready-made baseball profile and Listening Mode are in Set up a Stream Deck.

  • Set FINAL pressed at the last out
