After the final whistle, someone always wants the numbers: the coach, the athletic director, the local paper, the team's social media volunteer. For soccer, football and field hockey, ScoreCastr turns the match's score and stats into a tidy one-page PDF you can send or print. It takes one click, and it works during the game too.
Which sports have it
The Download Box Score button shows on the dashboard for three sports:
- Soccer
- Football
- Field hockey
Other sports don't have the button. Their live box score is on the public match page instead. See Share the public match page.
The button comes with every plan, including Free.
Download the PDF
- Open the match's Control Dashboard.
- In the sidebar, below Share Match, click Download Box Score. On a phone or narrow window, the sidebar sits under the main controls, so scroll down.
- The button shows Generating... for a moment.
- You'll see Box score downloaded: "The PDF was saved to your browser's downloads."
The file is named after the teams, for example Marlow_Herons_vs_Avon_Eagles_BoxScore.pdf. Field hockey files end in _FieldHockey_BoxScore.pdf.
You can download it as often as you like. Each download uses the score and stats at that moment, so a halftime download shows the halftime numbers.
What every box score shows
The top of the page is the same for all three sports:
- BOX SCORE and the sport, with the match date.
- The venue, city and state, if you entered them.
- Both team names, logos and scores, side by side.
- A status bar, such as Final, the current quarter, or the half.
The bottom of the page says "Generated by ScoreCastr" with the date and time you downloaded it.
Soccer
- Team Statistics: goals, shots, shots on target, possession, corners, offsides, fouls, yellow cards and red cards.
- Penalty Shootout: only if the match went to penalties. It shows each team's kicks (filled circle for a goal, open circle for a miss) and how many they scored.
The status bar shows the half, or Final, or "Final, After Extra Time" when the match went to extra time.
Football
- Scoring by Quarter: each team's points in Q1 to Q4 and the final total. An OT column is added when the game goes to overtime.
- Team Statistics: rushing, passing and total yards, first downs, third-down conversions, red zone, penalties (with yards), turnovers, interceptions, fumbles, sacks and timeouts remaining.
- Quarterback Statistics: each quarterback's completions and attempts, yards, touchdowns and interceptions. It only appears once a quarterback is named or has thrown a pass.
Field hockey
- Scoring by Quarter: Q1 to Q4 and the final, with OT and SO columns added when the game goes to overtime or a shootout.
- Team Statistics: goals, assists, shots, shots on goal, saves (with save percentage), penalty corners and the goals from them, penalty strokes and the goals from them, fouls, and green, yellow and red cards.
- Active Suspensions: players serving a card suspension at the moment you download, with the time left.
Field hockey CSV export
Field hockey also has Download CSV Data, just under the box score button. It saves a spreadsheet file with the score by quarter, overtime and shootout, the team stats, and a player table with each player's goals, assists, shots and shots on goal. Open it in Excel or Google Sheets.
Fix common problems
Nothing seems to happen. Most browsers save downloads without asking. Check your downloads folder or the browser's downloads list. On a phone, look in the Files or Downloads app.
"Download failed". The PDF couldn't be made. Wait a moment and click Download Box Score again.
A team logo is missing. The PDF uses the logos on the match's scorebug. If a logo can't be loaded, the PDF is made without it. Check the logo is set on the match, then download again.
The stats are all zero. The PDF only shows what was recorded on the dashboard during the game. See Record stats and game events.
