Customize Classic graphics

On the Classic template, every graphic has its own Color Customization panel. Pull in your team colors with one click, fine-tune any part, or reset it.

Classic is the original ScoreCastr look, and it's the template that lets you set colors graphic by graphic. If your school colors don't match the defaults, or the scoreboard should look a little different from the scorebug, this is where you change it. This guide covers the Color Customization panel and what else Classic lets you adjust.

Short versionOn the Control Dashboard, open Overlays, then Customization, and pick a graphic. The Color Customization panel sits beside its fields. Click Use Match Colors to apply your team colors, change any color with the wheel or a hex code, or click Reset to start over. It needs the Starter plan.

What you need

  • A match on the Classic template. On Apex and Primetime the panel is replaced by a note, because those templates use one set of colors for the whole match (see Switch templates).
  • The Starter plan. The Customization sub-tab comes with Starter; on Free it shows as a dimmed preview with Upgrade Now.

Find the color panel

  1. Open the match's Control Dashboard.
  2. Open the Overlays tab, then Customization.
  3. Pick a graphic from the list on the left (on a phone, from the row of buttons at the top).

The Color Customization panel is beside the graphic's fields on a wide screen, or below them on a narrow one. Each graphic has its own panel, so changing the scoreboard's colors leaves the scorebug alone.

These graphics have a color panel:

  • Score Bug, Scoreboard, Title Card, Keys to Match
  • Both lower thirds, Talent and Talent Bar
  • Away Player Bio, Home Player Bio, Away Player Stats, Home Player Stats
  • Away Starters, Home Starters, Away Defense, Home Defense
  • Halftime Stats (and its other names: Game Stats, Match Stats, Period Stats)

Watermark and Scrolling Ticker have their own controls instead. See Watermark and sponsor and Scrolling ticker.

How the panel is laid out

Colors are grouped by what they paint, and the groups change from graphic to graphic and sport to sport. Most panels have:

  • Backgrounds: bars, containers and boxes.
  • Team Colors: the away and home color areas.
  • Text: text on dark and light parts.

Some graphics add more groups. The lineups have Standard Player Cards and Featured Player Card, and Halftime Stats has Highlights for the leading stat.

Every color has a label that says what it changes, like Title Bar Background or Clock Text. Each one has three parts:

  • a swatch showing the current color
  • a text box for a hex code, like #1A2B3C
  • a color wheel button to pick by eye

Changes show on the overlay a moment after you make them. There's no save button.

Use Match Colors

The team colors you picked when you created the match are the match colors. Panels that have team color fields offer two ways to apply them:

  • Use Match Colors, at the top of the panel, sets every team color field in that panel to the match colors. Backgrounds and text stay as they are.
  • ↺ match colors, beside a Team Colors group, does the same for that group only.

Use these when you've changed a team color by hand and want it back, or after you've tried a different color and changed your mind.

Reset

Reset, at the top of the panel, puts every color in that panel back to its default. Team color fields go back to the match colors; the other colors go back to Classic's own defaults.

Reset only touches the graphic you're on. The other graphics keep their colors.

What else Classic lets you change

Colors are the main thing you style on Classic. The graphics have no font, size or position settings, with two exceptions:

  • Watermark: Opacity, Size and Position (which corner).
  • Scrolling Ticker: Position, Speed, Text Size, Font weight, Ticker Height, Background Opacity and more.

Everything else is fixed by the design. What you can change is the content: names, titles, logos, lineups and stats, in each graphic's fields. See Edit match details.

Tips for colors that work on air

  • Start with Use Match Colors, then change only what looks wrong.
  • Check text on team colors. If your team color is light, set the team text color dark so names stay readable.
  • Keep backgrounds consistent across graphics, so the scorebug, scoreboard and title card look like one set.
  • Check the result in the Live Preview under Overlays. See Pop out the live preview.
Watch outSwitching to Apex or Primetime doesn't delete your Classic colors. They stay saved with the match and come back if you switch to Classic again.

Fix common problems

The color panel is missing. The match is on Apex or Primetime. A note says the template uses one set of colors; change them in Graphics Template, the last item in the Customization list.

Use Match Colors did nothing. It copies the match's team colors into team color fields only. If the match has no team colors saved, there's nothing to copy; type the hex codes instead. Panels with no team color fields, like Talent, don't show the button.

A color doesn't change on the overlay. Check you're on the right graphic's panel, and that the hex code starts with # and has six characters.

Checklist

  • Match on the Classic template
  • Starter plan or higher
  • Use Match Colors applied to each graphic you use
  • Text readable on every team color
  • Result checked in Live Preview
