Edit match details after you create it

Fix a scorebug name, swap a logo or add the venue after the match is made. Every detail lives in the Customization tab, in the section for the graphic that shows it.

A typo in a team name, a missing logo, a venue you didn't know yet: you don't need a new match to fix any of these. Every detail you entered when you created the match can be changed from the Control Dashboard, even while the game is live. This guide shows where each one lives.

Short versionOn the Control Dashboard, open Overlays, then Customization. Scorebug names, logos and the title are in the Score Bug section. Full team names, mascots, records and the venue are in the Title Card section. Customization needs the Starter plan.

Where match details live

  1. Open the match's Control Dashboard from your match list.
  2. Open the Overlays tab, then the Customization sub-tab.
  3. Pick a graphic from the list on the left (on a phone, the row of buttons at the top).

Each graphic has its own section, and each section holds the details that graphic shows. That's why a team's name can appear in more than one place: the short scorebug name in Score Bug, and the full name in Title Card and Scoreboard.

Change the scorebug names

The scorebug shows the short name you set when you created the match, in every template. To change it:

  1. In Customization, choose Score Bug.
  2. Type the new name in Away Team or Home Team.

The label depends on the sport. Soccer says Away Name and Home Name. Ice hockey, field hockey, MMA, tennis and pickleball say Player 1 Name and Player 2 Name. Doubles matches also have Player 3 Name and Player 4 Name for the partners.

Keep scorebug names short, like the four-character names from match setup, so they fit the bar.

Changes save on their own a moment after you stop typing, and the overlay updates. There's no save button.

Change the title, logos and venue

  • Title: in Score Bug, type it in Title, for example "District Semifinal". Tennis, pickleball and MMA also have a Subtitle.
  • Team logos: in Score Bug, click Upload Away Team Logo or Upload Home Team Logo and pick an image. Click Remove Logo to take one off. The Title Card section has its own Away Logo and Home Logo.
  • Venue: in Title Card, fill in Venue, City and State. These show on the title card before the game.
Watch outIf you entered a team's record or the venue when you created the match, the title card keeps showing those values, and edits in the Title Card section don't replace them. Enter records and the venue at creation only if they're final, or leave them blank there and fill them in under Title Card. Also, typing a new scorebug name in Score Bug copies it into the Title Card and Scoreboard name fields, so retype the full names there afterwards. See Title cards.

Logos must be image files under 5 MB.

Change team colors

How you change colors depends on the match's template.

  • Classic: each graphic has a Color Customization panel beside its fields. Use Match Colors sets every team color field in that panel back to the team colors from match setup. Reset puts the whole panel back to its defaults.
  • Apex and Primetime: one set of colors covers every graphic. Open Graphics Template at the bottom of the Customization list and change Away team color and Home team color under Colors. The other graphics' sections show a note pointing you there.

See Switch templates for every Apex and Primetime color.

On the Free plan

The Customization tab comes with the Starter plan. On Free it shows as a dimmed preview with Upgrade Now, so you can't change names, logos or the venue after the match is made.

If you're on Free, check every name, logo and color on the Preview step before you click Create Match. See Create your first match.

Fix common problems

I changed the team name but the scorebug didn't change. You probably edited the Title Card or Scoreboard name. The scorebug uses the names in the Score Bug section.

"File Too Large" or "Invalid File Type" when uploading a logo. Use a PNG or JPG under 5 MB.

The color pickers are missing. The match is on Apex or Primetime. Change the colors in Graphics Template instead.

A field changed back after I typed in it. Wait a moment after typing before you move on. If you see "Change not saved", type it again.
