During play the scorebug sits in a corner. At a break, viewers want the score front and center. The Scoreboard graphic does that: both teams, their scores and the period, large and readable. This guide covers filling it in, putting it on air and how it shows the final.
What it shows
The scoreboard reads the live score, so it's always current. It shows:
- a header with a title and an optional logo
- the period or quarter, or the final when the game is over
- both teams with names and the score
- each sport's details, like baseball's runs, hits and errors
On Apex and Primetime, baseball and softball show the full line score by inning. Every sport has one, including MMA, tennis and pickleball. Swimming's version is Lane Results; see Swimming graphics.
What you need
The Starter plan. The scoreboard's settings are in the Customization sub-tab and you show it from the Overlay Visibility panel; both come with Starter.
Fill in the scoreboard
- Open the match's Control Dashboard.
- Open Overlays, then Customization, then Scoreboard.
- Fill in the fields for your sport (below).
For team sports:
| Field | What it does |
|---|---|
| Title | The header text. Football, basketball, baseball and softball only |
| Away Team, Home Team | The team names on the scoreboard |
| Away Team Mascot, Home Team Mascot | A line under each name |
| Period | Soccer only: replaces the period text, for example "1ST HALF" |
| Logo | Your league, school or event logo in the header |
For MMA, tennis and pickleball: Title, Subtitle, Logo, then Player 1 Name and Player 2 Name (plus Player 3 Name and Player 4 Name in doubles).
Without a title, the header shows the sport, like FOOTBALL GAME or BASKETBALL GAME. Soccer, volleyball, ice hockey and field hockey have no Title field, so their header always shows the sport.
Text saves on its own a moment after you stop typing. The logo must be an image under 5 MB.
Go to Break
The quickest way to use the scoreboard is the big button at the top of the Overlay Visibility panel:
- At the break, click Go to Break. The scorebug goes off and the scoreboard comes on.
- The button now reads In Break.
- When play resumes, click In Break. The scoreboard goes off and the scorebug comes back.
You can also show it on its own with Show Scoreboard, or with code 1002 in Listening Mode. More in Show and hide graphics.
Good moments for it: halftime, between periods or innings, timeouts, and after the final whistle.
Show the final
When you set the period to final (the Set FINAL button in most sports, Full Time in soccer), the scoreboard shows it in place of the period. End Match does this for you in basketball, football, volleyball, baseball, softball, ice hockey and field hockey. See End a match.
On Apex and Primetime the final looks different too: the winner's score turns gold with a trophy, and the losing team's row dims.
Graphics still work after End Match, so you can keep the final scoreboard up while you sign off.
On Classic, Apex and Primetime
| Classic | Apex and Primetime | |
|---|---|---|
| Names | Scoreboard Away Team and Home Team | The same |
| Mascots | Shows a sample mascot (like EAGLES) if left empty, except field hockey | Left out if empty |
| Logos | Header Logo; in team sports, team logos from the Score Bug | Header Logo; team logos from the Score Bug |
| Colors | The Scoreboard's Color Customization panel | Graphics Template colors |
Because Classic fills empty mascots with sample text, fill both mascot fields when you use Classic. On Apex and Primetime, a team's record from match setup shows when it has one.
Channel Assignment
Channel Assignment at the top of the Scoreboard section chooses Channel 1, Channel 2 or Both Channels. If your OBS setup puts full-screen graphics on a second channel, assign the scoreboard there. See Two output channels.
Fix common problems
The scoreboard shows the wrong team name. It uses the Scoreboard's own Away Team and Home Team. A scorebug name change copies into them; type the full name again.
A mascot I never typed is showing. That's Classic's sample text. Fill in Away Team Mascot and Home Team Mascot.
Go to Break shows nothing. Check the scoreboard's Channel Assignment matches the channel your OBS scene uses.
Checklist
- Starter plan or higher
- Team names and mascots filled in
- Title and logo set, if your sport has them
- Channel Assignment matches your OBS scene
