Google Sheets modes

Each tab of your Google Sheet is read in one of three modes. Key-Value fills show info, Roster pushes player bios and stats, and Lineups pushes starters and defense to your graphics.

Once your sheet is connected, every tab gets a mode that tells ScoreCastr how to read it. Pick it with the Key-Value, Roster and Lineups switch under Sheet Tabs. This guide covers what each mode reads, where the data lands in your graphics, and the settings that trip people up. Connecting the sheet is in Google Sheets in the Data Hub.

Short versionKey-Value: click a cell, bind it to a field, then Sync Show Info. Roster: map the columns, then click Bio or Stats on a player. Lineups: set the header row and player count, then Push Starters. Bio, Stats and the pushes put the graphic on air at once.

Key-Value: show info

Use it for a tab of one-off facts: team names, records, venue, the announcers. The tab shows as a grid with column letters and row numbers.

  1. Click a cell that holds a value, like the cell with the home team's record.
  2. In the panel below the grid, pick the field it fills.
  3. Repeat for each value. Bound cells show the field name in a purple badge.
  4. Click Sync Show Info.

Each field can be bound to one cell. Binding it to a new cell moves it. Clear removes a binding.

Field Fills
Away Team Name, Home Team Name The match's team names and the title card names
Away Record, Home Record Team records on the match and the title card
Away Mascot, Home Mascot Mascots on the match and the title card
Away Name (Scorebug), Home Name (Scorebug) The names on the scorebug
Event Title The scorebug title
Venue, City, State The match and the title card
Reporter, Talent Subtitle The Talent graphic's Title and Subtitle
Play by Play, Color Analyst The two names on the Talent Bar

An empty cell is skipped, so it never blanks a field. Sync changes text only; it doesn't show or hide anything. See Title cards and Lower thirds and talent.

Watch outBindings point at a cell address, like B14. If you insert or delete rows above it in the sheet, the binding reads the wrong cell. Sync Show Info also uses the grid as it was last loaded, so click Refresh Tab after you edit the sheet.

Roster: player bios and stats

Use it for a tab with one row per player. Put the column names in row 1.

  1. Choose Roster. The badge shows the team, taken from the tab name.
  2. Click Map Columns. Under Bio Columns, pick the column for Jersey #, First Name, Last Name, Position, Height, Weight, Class / Year, Bio Note and Stat Header. Leave any you don't have as none.
  3. Under Stats Columns (up to 4 pairs), pick a category column and a value column for each stat. Click Add pair for more.
  4. Find the player: scroll, type in Search player…, or type a number in the # box and click Go.
  5. Click Bio or Stats on the player's row.

Only rows with a jersey number are listed. Each click reads the sheet fresh, so a stat you just updated goes out.

Button Fills From
Bio That team's Player Bio Name, number, position. Player Information is Height, Weight and Class joined with " | ". Headline is the Bio Note, shown only when it isn't empty
Stats That team's Player Stats Name, number, position, Stat 1 to Stat 4 labels and values from the pairs. Headline is the Stat Header

In a stat pair, both columns are read from the player's own row. The category column holds the label, like PTS, and the value column the number, like 18. So a tab needs a label column and a value column for each stat, for example Stat 1 Label and Stat 1 Value. A stat column with nothing in it for that player is hidden on the graphic.

On Primetime the " | " splits the info line into separate pieces. More on these graphics: Player stats and player bios.

Lineups: starters and defense

Use it for a tab that lists the starting lineup in order. Defense can sit lower on the same tab, with its own header row.

  1. Choose Lineups. The badge shows the team from the tab name.
  2. Click Map Columns. Under Column Mapping, pick Player Name, Jersey # (UNI) and Position (POS). These columns are used for both starters and defense.
  3. Under Starters Section, set Header Row # to the row with your column names (2 by default) and Player Count to the number of starters.
  4. For football, baseball or softball, turn on Include Defense Section and set Defense Header Row # and Defense Count. The defense header row must use the same column names.
  5. Check the preview cards, then click Push Starters or Push Defense.

Player Name and Jersey # must be mapped before the push buttons work. Starters go to the team's Away Starters or Home Starters graphic, and defense to Away Defense or Home Defense.

Set Player Count to the sport's lineup size: 5 for basketball, 6 for ice hockey, 7 for volleyball, 9 for baseball and softball (10 with a FLEX on Apex and Primetime), 11 for football and field hockey. A push rewrites all 12 rows of the lineup and leaves the rows past your count empty, and a count that's too high pulls in whatever rows sit below the lineup. Map Position too, or Apex and Primetime show no positions. See Lineups and starters and Defense on the diamond.

Watch outClicking Load Sheet again can clear a Lineups tab's settings. If the columns come back empty or the badge shows the wrong team, click Key-Value, then Lineups again, and map the columns again.

When each graphic goes on air

Bio, Stats, Push Starters and Push Defense turn the graphic on as they fill it. Push during a stoppage, or right before you want it seen, and hide it from the Overlay Visibility panel when you're done. See Show and hide graphics.

Fix common problems

"Roster push failed" or "Starters push failed". Check the mapped columns still exist with the same names in the sheet, then try again.

"No player rows found. Check column mappings above." Map Jersey #, and check the column names are in row 1.

The lineup preview says "No data". Header Row # points at the wrong row.

Stats show the wrong labels. The category column should hold the label text for each player, not the number.
