Player stats and player bios

Put one player on screen: a bio with a headline and a line about them, or their numbers from the game. Pick the player from your roster, add the details and show it in one click.

When a player scores, gets a big stop or is about to take a free throw, the broadcast can tell their story. ScoreCastr has two graphics for that, for each team: a player bio and a player stats card. This guide covers filling them in fast during a game and how each template shows them.

Short versionOpen Overlays > Customization > Away Player Bio (or Home Player Bio, Away Player Stats, Home Player Stats). Pick the player from Select Player from Roster, add a headline and the info or stats, then click Show Away Player Bio in the Overlay Visibility panel. Needs the Starter plan.

Which sports have them

The player graphics are for the eight team sports: soccer, football, basketball, volleyball, ice hockey, field hockey, baseball and softball. Each team has its own two:

Graphic Shows Code
Away Player Bio One away player with a headline and a line of info 1007
Home Player Bio The same, home team 1008
Away Player Stats One away player with up to four stats 1018
Home Player Stats The same, home team 1019

The codes work with Listening Mode on, from a numpad or Stream Deck. Baseball and softball also have pitcher stats under the scorebug; see Pitcher stats.

What you need

  • The Starter plan, for the Customization sub-tab and the Overlay Visibility panel.
  • Optional: the teams saved in My Teams with rosters, so you can pick players from a list.

Fill in a player bio

  1. Open Overlays, then Customization, then Away Player Bio (or Home Player Bio).
  2. In Select Player from Roster, pick the player. This fills in Player Name, Player Number and Player Position (shortened, like FW or PG).
  3. Type a Headline, like "TEAM CAPTAIN" or "2 GOALS TONIGHT".
  4. Turn Display Headline Container on or off to show or hide the headline.
  5. Type Player Information: a short line about the player, like their class, height and a fact.
  6. Optional: under Team Logo, click Upload Logo. Without one, the graphic uses the scorebug team logo.

Text saves on its own a moment after you stop typing. Logos must be images under 5 MB.

Fill in player stats

  1. Open Away Player Stats (or Home Player Stats).
  2. Pick the player in Select Player from Roster, or type Player Name, Player Number and Player Position.
  3. Add a Headline and set Display Headline Container.
  4. Under Stats Configuration, fill in Stat 1 Label and Stat 1 Value, for example POINTS and 18, up to Stat 4.
  5. Under Stats Visibility Controls, turn off Show Stat Column 1 to Show Stat Column 4 for any you don't need.

The stats are what you type: they don't update by themselves as you score. Before you show the card, check the numbers against the dashboard's stats. See Record stats and game events.

Where the roster comes from

Select Player from Roster lists the players of the saved team in My Teams whose name matches the match's team name. Each shows as number, name and position.

  • If there's no matching team with players, you'll see No player roster found for and the team name. Type the details by hand.
  • If you have two saved teams with the same name, the list may show the wrong one's players. Delete the duplicate team.

Picking a player fills the name, number and position only. The headline, info and stats are always yours to type.

TipSet up the players you're likely to feature before the game: the leading scorer, the senior on senior night, the goalkeeper. During play you then only change the headline or one stat before you show it.

Show it on air

In the Overlay Visibility panel, click Show Away Player Bio, Show Home Player Bio, Show Away Player Stats or Show Home Player Stats. Click again to hide it. Each graphic has its own Channel Assignment at the top of its section (Channel 1, Channel 2 or Both Channels). See Show and hide graphics and Two output channels.

Show a player card during a stoppage: after a goal, at a free throw, during a timeout. Hide it before play restarts so it doesn't cover the action.

How each template shows them

Classic Apex Primetime
Layout Headline, player card and info or stats, in the colors from the Color Customization panel A slab across the lower part of the screen: logo, number over position, name and a team-color edge A wide plate in the team color with the logo, number over position, and the name
Headline A headline container A team-color tab on the top edge A dark tab with gold text on the top edge
Player Information Below the player A line hanging below the slab A tab under the plate
Stats Up to four One to four columns inside the slab One to four columns at the end of the plate

On Apex and Primetime, you can split Player Information into separate pieces with a middle dot, for example "Senior · 6'2" · Team captain". Primetime also splits on a vertical bar (|).

On Apex and Primetime, colors come from Graphics Template. See Switch templates.

Filling them from your data (Pro)

On the Pro plan, two more ways can fill these graphics:

  • Google Sheets in the Data Hub can push a roster row's bio or stats into the player graphic and put it on air.
  • StatsCastr: when the match is linked to a StatsCastr game, the Player Stats section shows a Data source switch, Manual or StatsCastr. Pick StatsCastr, then choose the player (or click Last play), and the stats fill in from the StatsCastr game.

Fix common problems

The roster list is empty. Save the team in My Teams with players, using the same name as in the match.

The stats are out of date. They're typed values. Change them before each showing.

The headline is missing. Turn on Display Headline Container and check Headline isn't empty.
